City of Dzerzhinsk  is Like Poison

Most say it is inhuman to keep children locked inside the house -rain
or shine. In Dzerzhinsk, it is inhuman to let children outside. In
Dzerzhinsk, everyone (especially children) is at risk of receiving the flu.
It may not sound so bad - you barf a little, run a fever, miss a fewdays
of school. In Dzerzhinsk, the schools are closed, and the influenza disease
is fatal. With toxic soil and air filled to the brim with dioxins, it’s no
wonder the life expectancy in this city is 42 for men and 47 for women.
Dzerzhinsk is not only in bad shape - it’s poison. Dmitry Levashov, head
of an environmental group states: "Mushrooms are like sponges soakingup
heavy metals like copper, lead, aluminum, magnesium along with chlorine
organic compounds and DDT. . . but they still taste good."
