Bye, Bye Imperial Family
After Nicholas II was overthrown as tsar, the Romanovs were forced totake
a "long voyage." In truth, they were exiled the Siberia. For a fewmonths,
they had a quiet, almost comfortable life. But soon, the Provisional
Government was overthrown, and life became more uncomfortable. In May,
1918, the Imperial Family was taken back to Russia into the UralMountains.
There the Lenin and the Bolsheviks ordered the assassination of the
Romanovs. The whole situation was awful: at 1:30 a.m. on July 16, thewhole
family, including servants and doctor, were wakened and taken down tothe
cellar. The funny twist is, they thought they were having their picture
taken - at 1:30 a.m.! But instead of getting snapped with a camera, they
were shot with a gun. The Romanov girls had been hiding 8 kilos ofdiamonds
in their corsets to make their clothing bullet proof. The bulletsbounced
around the room, but in the end, the whole family and its servants were
killed. A dog’s body was also discovered among the remains.
