Revolutionary/ Non-Revolutionary Parties

Constitutional Democratic Party: formed in 1905, also known as the  Kadets

The Constitutional Democrats believed in change through elections.  Their
government would include the tsar as a powerless figure-head, a Parliament,
and a constitution. The were for private land-ownership and farming, and
growth of industry. [Non-Revolutionary]

Social Democratic Party: formed in 1889

The Social Democratics, led by Lenin, believed in Karl Marx’s ways to
convince change in government. Lenin wanted a tight, compact organisation for a government, while others believed in a loosely-structured government. A vote favoured Lenin’s ways of thinking, and the Social Democrats split up into two groups in 1912: Lenin’s was called the Bolsheviks (meaning majority), and th eopposition was called the Mensheviks (meaning minority.) Social Revolutionary Party: formed in 1901, also known as the Narodniks

The Social Revolutionaries wanted socialism through the peasants. They believed in acts of terrorism and violence to convince change in the government. [Revolutionary]

Octobrist Party: formed after 1905

The Octobrists believed in constitutional government with a tsar figure-head. They wanted private farming and land reform.
