After the
overthrow of the tsar and the provisional government, the
Bolsheviks
took over the country. They wanted to establish communism,or
equality,
in Russia. Yet while the Bolsheviks were supposedly going tomake
Russia
a better place to live, things weren’t much better than they had
been earlier.
Private land ownership no longer existed. All the gold in
Russia
automatically was owned by the state. There was governmentcontrol
over everything:
businesses, banks, and natural resources. There wasstill
no such
thing as freedom of religion. So you see, things were onlybetter
for Lenin
and his crew, and the same or even worse for the people ofRussia.
